Arthur Machinery, Inc. filed for chapter 11 yesterday at the United States Bankruptcy Court fr the Northern District of Illinois. The debtor's petition lists less than $10 million in assets. The largest unsecured creditor is listed as Haas Automation, Inc.

Arthur Machinery, Incfounded in 1983 by Robert Arthur in Elk Grove Village, IL, began by representing one machine tool builder and has grown to be a leading distributor of precision CNC and Manual Machine Tool including CNC Turning Centers and Screw Machines, Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers, Grinders, Mills, Lathes, Saws, EDM, Pallet changers and Bar feeds in both IL and FL representing Doosan, Haas (IL), Star CNC, Hydromat/FMB/Edge, Acra, Makino (FL), Milltronics (FL), DoALL, Hemsaw, Midaco, Staubli robots, IEMCA, Chevalier (FL), LNS, as well as other manufacturers and their own new division , Astral Metrology. Arthur Machinery employs over 100 people in its 36,000 sq. ft. Illinois facility and 12,000 sq.ft. Florida facility with sales in excess of $100 million.
