Crabtree & Evelyn, Ltd. Files For Chapter 11

Crabtree & Evelyn, Ltd., filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.  The debtor currently operates 126 retail stores in the United States and employees 950 non-unionized employees.

The debtor had 2008 revenues of approximately $107.5 million for their fiscal year ending September 30, 2008.  The debtor estimates 2009 revenue of $100 million with a projected operating loss of $13.3 million.
