Southern Star Mortgage Corp. files for Chapter 11

East Meadow N.Y. based, Southern Star Mortgage Corp., filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Friday at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. The debtor's petition lists Preferred Bank, F.S.B. as the largest secured creditor with an $8.5 million claim.
